About us The first foundation of the cooperative was founded in England by a group of 28 weavers it ‘s name is The Rochdale Society .That was formed in 1844 straight with the time of King Rama III of Thailand. Later His Majesty Princess Ratchanee Jamjaras promoted knowledge about “Cooperative” and defined the meaning of “Cooperative” in Thai language is “Sahagone” (สหกรณ์). He also become the first Registrar of The first cooperative in Thailand named Wat Chan Cooperative Unlimited Liability, which was established by the government on February 26, 1916, in Phitsanulok, following the German Raiffeisen credit cooperative type form German with a single purpose of providing farm credit and being organized as a small village cooperative to help the severely indebted farmers. The success of this cooperative type preventing many farmers’ land from being foreclosed by the moneylenders which led to the increasing number of small village credit cooperatives all over Thailand.
In 1949, Srinakharinwirot University had its beginnings as the Higher Teacher Training School at Prasarnmit, In 1953, it became the College of Education, having authority to grant a Bachelor’s degree in Education in a variety of major subject ws held by a “Chancellor” and “The Office of the Chancellor”. Until 1966 Khun Suporn Sripahorn was the Head of the Chancellor’s office. He setup cooperative and starting with by her close friends in the university. 65 member’s the SWU Thrift and Credit Cooperative Limited was established and within a strong foundation to this day is prospering.
